Four days back, one of my websites went from rank 3 for a keyword to more than rank 300. Upon investigation and after discussing it on a forum and also talking to my friends, we were finally able to figure out the source of problem: I had another website ranking on position 2 for the same keyword and it had a link pointing to the first website (the one with rank 3). Google found out about this and well, lowered the rank of the website from the earlier number 3 to somewhere in the infinity. This is not unusual as I found out by searching various SEO forums. The conclusion is to never interlink two websites competing for the same keyword, especially when the websites in question have very high rankings.

Well, there’s nothing much to discuss in this post. All I’ve got to say is that one of my friends’ website got banned penalised for gathering too many links too quickly. Make sure that doesn’t happen to you. Gathering authority in Google is difficult and you don’t want anything like this to happen to your websites and blogs. I know this phenomenon is ages old in the SEO community but I just wanted to bring it to everyone’s notice how dangerous it can be because the friend’s penalised website’s ranking dropped from page one for several important terms to somewhere between the 20th and 25th pages.

That brings me to another point: Why doesn’t Google do something about things like that because this phenomenon can be easily misused. Just buy a lot of spam links for your competitors and boom, they’re out of your way. Am I not right?

The pagerank has updated and I got a pr of 2. Its quite low but not bad for a blog just one month old. However, this really doesn’t bother me because what I was really waiting for was a good pagerank for some of the domains I have and luckily, most of them got a pr of 5, the highest being 6. Selling domains is one of my sources of some extra income from time to time. Anyone interested in some high quality domains?

Also, I’ve been very lazy but still, have been experimenting a lot with 3DS Max. I’ve also been trying to create the software and other stuff for my upcoming automobile website. Goodbye for now, I hope you’re doing well too.

Just wanted to tell you all I’m starting a new website, not just another website, its gonna be something related to cars; probably focussing on the technical aspects. I’m just visualising the concept right now. If you’ve got any ideas, please let me know. I’ll be very thankful. Till now, I’ve shortlisted the following ideas:

• Something like an automobile catalog, something like Wikipedia but focussing on only cars.
• A technical forum discussing aerodynamics and other aspects of automobile design and engineering.
• A forum discussing what an ideal car should be and inviting people to come together to make such a concept possible.

Well, that’s not the exact figure, but its quite close. I estimated it by making two search queries on Google:

1. The first query was SEO which, according to Google has about 223,000,000 results.

2. The second query was BLOG which returns 2,490,000,000 results on Google.

If we compute it, the result shows almost 9% of blogs are SEO blogs. Its okay to round it to 10% since SEO blogs are more active than most blogs in other niches. Well, how long do you think it’d take for the percentage to rise to 20 percent? Not long, I believe. There are crappy SEO blogs cropping up everywhere
