The Erudite Template released
Finally the day has come. I’m releasing a beautiful template called The Erudite Template. It is a blogger template (I’ll be releasing the Wordpress version soon) made by me and I’m very proud of my creation. I hope you’ll love it too. Okay, so here’s the download link (right click and save it) for this template. You can see it in action here.
Features of this template:
- Customizable images: Just replace the image url with the url of the image of your choice.
- Social bookmarking buttons after every blog post.
- Customizable text for RSS subscription after every post.
- RSS and feed subscription buttons in high profile locations on the blog.
- Option of adding and editing the navigating buttons.
- Option of adding ‘Page Elements’ above or below blog posts, in the footer and in the sidebar.
If the name of this template reminds you of another blogger template called Erudite 1.0, available for download at Gecko and Fly, I’ll tell you what the story is: That template at gecko and Fly was actually created by me. But when I sold my blog, I also gave the new owner of my blog, the ownership rights for that template. So, although that was created by me, I don’t actually own it now.
Anyway, back to this one. All you have to do to use this template is,
1. Download the zip file to your hard disk and extract it.
2. Go to the edit HTML page for your blog in your blogger dashboard
3. Upload the saved file from your hard disk.
4. Save the template
5. This step is very important. Make sure ‘Expand Widget Templates’ is checked. Scan the template code for instances of text written within astrerixes as highlighted in the following image:
There are total seven instances of such pieces of text. You need to replace the text (including the enclosing *****) with what the piece of text instructs you to do.
After this is done, save your template and your blog will be ready.
To change the blog header, find the following text in your template code and replace the highlighted text with the URL of your own header image:
#headerpic {
background: #ffffff url(”http://h1.ripway.com/eruditetemplate/header4.jpg“) no-repeat right top;
height:220px;
float: left;
width:790px;
text-align:right;
}
I’ve myself made some header images for the template for your use and you can have a look at them below. Below each image is its url which should be copied and pasted in place of the header image URL in your template’s code as I’ve shown above.

I hope you enjoy using my template as much as I did creating it.
Update:
The code has been modified a bit to make the images in the template load faster.

An excellent template with clear instructions for uploading! It’s great to see that you have even included alternative header images which will fit neatly in place of the default one!
I have linked to this in todays’ round up of Blogger template releases on Blogger Buster so others can find this template more easily too. Thank you for sharing this lovely design

Great template! I’m using it on my blog… only one thing: there’s a way to stretch the central column?

@Dario: “there’s a way to stretch the central column?”
Does that mean you want a wider version of the template? If yes, then check out this update.

hey jashan,
this template is clean, readable and nice looking, good job! i want to use your template but with some modifications, such as changing the banner and background colours or may be the size of the columns. i’ll still keep a reference link to your blog and template to forward people to the original template. can i do that?
thanks

I love this template and very desperate to have it applied to my blog. Desperate as I am, I can’t do the installation right. I keep on getting this message “Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The document type declaration for root element type “html” must end with ‘>’.. being the techo illiterate that I am, I really got no idea what that means.
